A lot of people think that if their back squat goes up, then their Olympic lifts will go up. No, that just means your legs got stronger. There is no direct correlation for back squat and the Olympic lifts. Yes, generally if your leg strength goes up you SHOULD be able to lift more. But, that is not always the case. I have seem some people increase their back squat by 15kg and they end up lifting less than their previous competition. On a side note, when it is close to a competition (one week out) you don't need to do a PR set of 5 in the squat. That is NOT going to help you snatch and clean & jerk more weight in a few days. That will actually leave your legs more tired instead of nice and fresh for the meet. Thats my rant for the day guys. Have a great workout.
